Kingsley Flood Sneak Peek: “Quiet, Quiet Ground” on Upcoming Album

One of our new favorite bands, Kingsley Flood (check out our review of their debut album Dust Windows) is hard at work on their next album. They sent us this video, so we caught up with bassist Nick Balkin to ask him about it.

“We shot this video for ‘Quiet, Quiet Ground’ for our upcoming CMJ showcase, Beast of the Northeast, (Fri, Oct. 22) hosted by Ryan’s Smashing Life, Boston’s Weekly Dig and annie*rock,” said Balkin. “And yes, we used every cliche in the book: chain linked fence, railroad tracks, brick walls. (Embrace it.) The track will be on our next album. [The video] was shot in Malden, MA, — just outside of Boston — at Oak Grove subway station on the Orange Line.”

We love the gritty feel, complete with ringing alarms and shrieking subway car brakes in the background. (Kingsley Flood is: frontman Naseem Khuri, Nick Balkin on bass, drummer Will Davies, guitarist George Hall and Jenée Morgan on fiddle and superb backing vocals — Nick is the tall guy in the back with the beard/vest combo.)
