All right boys and girls. You might want to go ahead and buy a new pair of dancing shoes now. You can break them in pacing around in anticipation of Moogfest 2010 here in Asheville NC, the home of Moog Music and cool kid destination of the Southeast. Moogfest just moved this year from NYC and will take place Halloween weekend (Oct. 29-31) in several venues around downtown Asheville.
Headliners include Devo, Hot Chip, Caribou, Massive Attack, MGMT, Van Dyke Parks, DJ Spooky, and Thievery Corporation with 24 other acts lined up for the three day genre-bending party.
The festival will also include discussion panels, workshops, and film screenings. The performers listed on the website truly embody the creative, boundary-pushing spirit of Bob Moog, who created the Moog synthesizer and shaped 20th century music as we know it. I’ve just had a chance to sample Pretty Lights’ Spilling Over Every Side, the second EP in the trilogy which began with Making Up a Changing Mind earlier this year. If Smith includes some tracks from this EP at his show scheduled for the final night of Moogfest, those shoes may not make it to Monday.
Check out the tentative schedule, buy tickets, and read up on Bob Moog and the city of Asheville at MoogFest.com, or stalk them (we do) on Twitter.
